Hi! My name is Meredith McMahan, and I started Provide a Ride during my sophomore year at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.

 

For several years, I had watched my older brother and his friends volunteer around the community by using their pick-up trucks to move larger items for local charities. As I watched them provide their services, I started to understand that there were a lot of other transportation services that could be provided to local charitable nonprofits via a car or small SUV. These services may be a simple pick-up and delivery of a purchased item at a local retailer, or the pick-up and delivery of food items from a local restaurant? Or maybe just providing a ride to someone who lacks basic transportation, such as to a doctor's appointment or to the grocery store? Whatever the ride, I knew there was a need for free transportation services for non-profits in Austin, so I started Provide a Ride!
